This remark was made by the Minister of Territorial Administration Atanga Nji Paul in an evaluation security meeting this December 14, 2023, at the Governor’s Office of the West Region. Meanwhile, he added that the Divisions of Noun, Bamboutous and Menoua that share common boundaries with the North West and South West Regions still pose some security challenges thus a need to look for concrete solutions. This is at the heels of the Governor’s Conference next week in Yaounde and end of year festivities, so the watch word is vigilance.
The issues of traditional rulers is a cause for concern as there is need for a census of all traditional rulers in Cameroon especially concerning succession rights which has become a bone of contention in most chiefdoms. So there will be a clear account of succession so administrative authorities will provide all necessary information on this, the Minister added.
MINAT noted that several cases of banditry and deviant behaviour have been attributed to bike riders there is need for them to be identified. Administrative authorities were asked to identify sellers also of bikes who need to identify the bike owners which is now an obligation.
Minister Atanga Nji highlighted on ills of organised crimes which goes alongside drug use, the MINAT boss called the attention of the état major of the West Region to be watchful as even the school environment is not left out. He ended by thanking the synergy between all the actors to fight criminality in the region.
